You can't get away with just 2 or 3 anymore.Let me get you to think about this scenario. So now you've gotta buy multiple cables from lots of brands. Sometimes those tricks clash and the signal dies along the signal path, which is heard as notes which rapidly die after you've plucked them.Īcoustically they ring, but electrically, they die rapidly. Once you know this electrical fact, then you might realise that pickups and pedals are also making their own electrical tricks in the signal path. They do something electrically to removethe perceived problems. So, most cables are actually electrical trick cables. If there's a noise, you're using the right cable! But most people actually HATE that noise caused by the cable being moved. While you're using the cable, give it a shake and have a listen for a noise out of the speakers caused by the cable being shook. Don't get me wrong, Monster cable fans: these are fabulous cables for strangling someone/hanging someone, holding your roof during a hurricane/tornado, lassoing a wild beast, but terrible at much else. The entire cable is extremely rigid and pull down on the connectors, adding stress. The main reason I hate these is these are the only speaker cables that ever popped out from the cabinet's speaker jack while playing-the connectors on these Monster cables are simply atrocious. I have two monster speaker cables I used to use, but not anymore. I once used this to connect my guitar, but due to it's shorter length, I only use it if I want to be close to an amp. These cables have a smooth, nylon-braided exterior/sleeve kinda like the Fender, but it feels a little thicker. Though I only purchased one, these are great cables that are well-made from end to end.

Since I don't use stomps that much anymore, these kinda sit in my bag unused though they always did a great job.ĭimarzio instrument cable. These are smaller lengths (patch cables) that I used to connect multiple stomp boxes. I can't remember the exact model name, but these have a smooth, nylon-braided exterior/sleeve texture. Love the Neutrik connectors on these!įender instrument cable. I also have a Samson Tourtek speaker cable to connect the head to a 2x12 cab or a 4x12 cab very thick yet very flexible. I use these to connect my multi-effects unit to the amplifier's effects loop. Sold at most Sam Ash stores, these have been pretty reliable for me and sound great. Great cable that is available in a variety of lengths and connector shapes. They used to be sold at GC, but now only a few places have them in stock. I use these to connect between my guitar and amplifier instrument input with a tuner and noise gate in between. These have a very cool, cloth-like braided exterior/sleeve that come in different colors and patterns. I purchased two more a few years later and both are still going strong.

I purchased my first around the mid to late '90's (25 or 30 foot-I can't remember) and it's still going strong. I use several brands, but they all do a good job.
